Custodia – the sideboard with secret treasury

In times, where stress and hectic determine our daily live, people long for a moment of relaxation. For this relaxing moments, the clockmanufacture Erwin Sattler developed a spectacular piece of furniture. We cannot guarantee that the moments of relaxation  turn into hours of enthusiasm.
To enable the collector of precious watches, to present his collectibles, a demonstration platform in the same quality level was developed.
Because the manufacture Erwin Sattler has highest demands in manufacturing and quality of their precision clocks, a new definition of the watch winder was necessary.
For this board, finest selection of wood creates the ambience for extraordinary collectibles.
The 13 layer black varnish is applied on long aged wood and perfectly matches the handpolished walnut elements. The drawers are covered with alcantara inside. From every point of view the “Custodia”is an extraordinary piece of manufacturing.
The two woodframed trays on the top of the desk can be elevated by a gentle push on the remote control. Like two hidden treasures the most uncommon watch winders become visible. To allow you to admire the craftmanship and the technology of the “Rotalis” precision-watch winders, they are surrounded by anti-reflection mineral glass.
Another push on the remote control and the 16 LED lamps illuminate the 24 goldplated gears as well as the precious watches.
No wonder that Erwin Sattler uses the same gears as transmission between motor and watch, as they use for their precision  pendulum clocks. The gears are not punched out, they are milled out from hardened brass and gold plated afterwards.
The polished drum, the gears and the front pulleys are equipped with 80 ball bearings in total. This eliminates friction and minimizes noise.
Not only the mechanic, also the electronic is top level. It enables the gentle winding of automatic watches at all times.
Because of a separate motor for every watch, individual selection of turns per day and winding direction is possible. We want to mention, that no another common watch winder is adapted better to the demands of watch movements, than the “Rotalis” with it`s patented and registered Sattler-Beluwo® watchwinder technology.
The watch collector can select from a data base the ideal winding rates and transmit them via USB cable to the watch winder. No more doubts about movement, winding rates and direction.
Nevertheless the “Rotalis” can also be operated without data transmission. A clever standard program enshures perfect winding at all times.
Last but not least, after winding the watches are positioned in their starting position with the 12 o`clock on top.
