Mechanica M1 by Erwin Sattler – the popular assembly kit for a precision pendulum clock. New in 2011
Since the pendulum clock was invented, the even and regular ticking it brings forth has continued to fascinate people. Today, the mechanical timekeepers made by clock manufacture Erwin Sattler naturally belong to a perfect premium living environment – they are comparable to placing a valuable painting or a high-end hi-fi system.
Since these handcrafted clocks naturally have their price, the idea came about to offer interested clients an affordable precision clock in the form of an assembly kit – without abandoning the exceptionally high quality inherent to a Sattler clock. Thus, the watchmakers of Erwin Sattler, the global leader in luxury clocks, put their more than twenty-year experience into designing the first precision pendulum clock offered as a do-it-yourself kit. The Mechanica M1 was the result; thanks to its fascinating mechanics and timeless design, more than 900 of these clocks have been sold to date.
The M1 is a full-fledged precision pendulum clock that includes all of the quality characteristics of its big siblings. Some of its characteristic elements include a temperature compensating Invar pendulum, hardened steel pinions, and milled gold-plated gear wheels. The use of stainless steel ball bearings and the highest quality materials as well as other special details in the mechanical design make it possible to assemble the M1 without previous knowledge of watchmaking or additional tools. An extensive construction manual entitled “The Book on the Clock” not only takes the owner through the assembly step by step, allowing for a unique sense of achievement, but also additionally lets the new owner in on the technical functionality of his or her M1.
Different assembly kits allow for individualization: The owner can transform the “face” of his or her M1 into a regulator dial if so desired, and can even upgrade it further by adding hand-domed, polished hands. A ball-bearing cable pulley, polished screws, and agate pallets are also among the offered additional elements for the assembly kits.
New 2011: By popular demand, we also offer as of right now a cutaway in the normal or regulator dial. Adding this dial with its cutaway in the seconds subdial in conjunction with a milling in the top plate of the movement makes it possible to see the gold-plated gear wheels and the Graham escapement.
The modified set contains the dial with cutaway and serial number as well as the top plate with its special milling.
